Twitter and LinkedIn are now Integrated
There has been a lot of chatter recently about the planned integration between social media giants Twitter and LinkedIn. As of Monday, LinkedIn users are able to have their tweets appear on their profile pages and also have their LinkedIn status updates appear on attached Twitter accounts.
“The idea is simple: When you set your status on LinkedIn you can now tweet it as well, amplifying it to your followers and real-time search services like Twitter Search and Bing. And when you tweet, you can send that message to your LinkedIn connections as well, from any Twitter service or tool.”
You will notice on your LinkedIn profile that you now have a small Twitter icon next to the “Share” button which will update your Twitter account simultaneously:

Send to Twitter is now available on your LinkedIn statuses
Similarly, you can select whether or not to have all of your tweets update your LinkedIn status, or only those with the “#in” hashtag attached to them.

Adding #in lets you select which tweets go to LinkedIn
At a first glance you may be thinking that this is a wonderful opportunity to cross-populate information, but keep in mind that your tweets and your status updates may have two very separate audiences. While tweeting about your hangover and angst towards your boss may be acceptable to your personal friends on Twitter, the professionals you are connected to on LinkedIn may find it as a put-off. In contrast, if you have a business-oriented Twitter account where you keep things at an acceptable level, integrating it with your LinkedIn account can greatly increase your credibility and reputation.
